About the Archives
The City of Wrenford Archives is part of the Old Mill Museum & Archives. We collect, preserve, and share records that tell the story of Wrenford and its people. You can visit us in person or search our collection online. Our team is here to help you find what you need.
Reading room and in-person research
The Archives reading room is open to the public. You can come in to look at maps, photographs, city records, and historical documents. Please note that you conduct your own research. A reference archivist is available to help you find materials, but we do not do research for you. You cannot take items out of the reading room.
Appointments are recommended so we can prepare the materials you need. Contact us before your visit to plan your time.
Reading room hours and rules
- Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Staff assistance is available until 3:45 p.m.
- Food and drink are not allowed in the reading room to protect the documents.
- Pencils and personal laptops are welcome. We provide paper and pencils if you need them.
Distance research
If you cannot visit in person, you can search our online archives to find digitized records. We are working hard to add more materials online. If you need information that is not yet digitized, we can send you a summary or a digital scan. Please note there are limits on how much information we can send to remote users. If you need detailed research done for you, you can hire a research consultant. Contact us for a list of approved consultants.
Research resources
Our staff has put together guides to help you get started. You can find:
- A Guide to Researching Building History
- City of Wrenford Archives Brochure
- Historical Land Use Research
These guides explain how to track down property records, city plans, and historical maps. You can also visit the Library archives for additional genealogical and historical resources.
Making copies and digital photos
You are welcome to take photographs with your personal device for personal use. We encourage you to take notes on where you found information so you can reference it later. Please follow our Digital Photography Guidelines to protect fragile documents.
If you need official copies, we can provide photocopies, microfilm copies, or digital scans. There are limits on how many copies you can order at once. We will check the physical condition, size, copyright, donor restrictions, and privacy laws before making copies. Some materials are protected under the Freedom of Information and cannot be copied.
