What the Board does

The Wrenford Public Library Board of Trustees is an independent, arm's-length body. The City provides the funding, but the Board sets policy, approves the annual budget, and hires the Library CEO. The Board also makes sure the library serves all residents fairly, follows Ontario's library laws, and plans for the future. If you have a question about library services, the Board is your voice.

Meeting schedule

Board meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Branch community room. Meetings are open to the public, and you are welcome to attend. The Board does not meet in August or December. Agendas and supporting reports are posted online five business days before each meeting. Minutes are published within ten business days after approval. You can review past meetings on our website. The Board meets in person to discuss community feedback and library strategy.

Who serves on the Board

The Board is made up of nine members appointed by City Council: seven residents, one City councillor, and one youth representative aged 15 to 24. All members serve three-year terms. A trustee may be reappointed, but no one may serve more than two consecutive terms. The Board Chair is elected by the trustees each January. The current Library CEO is Tara Sandhu, who attends meetings as a non-voting advisor to share staff updates and recommendations.

Applying to serve

If you live in Wrenford, you can apply to join the Board. You must be a resident or elector of the City and not work for the City or the Library. To apply, submit a completed application form and a one-page letter of interest to the City Clerk's office or by email to [email protected]. The City posts open positions on the public notices page. Shortlisted applicants are invited to a community interview panel. The Board looks for people who understand the needs of different neighbourhoods and who can bring fresh ideas to library planning.
