Play pickleball in Wrenford

Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in Ontario, combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. The City of Wrenford provides safe, well-maintained courts for players of all ages and skill levels. You can book courts for organized play or join drop-in sessions on a first-come, first-served basis.

Court locations and types

Wrenford operates 12 courts across five facilities. Courts are classified as dedicated regulation (built specifically for pickleball), shared regulation (lined on existing tennis or multi-use surfaces), or non-regulation (modified or soft-paddle surfaces).

  • Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre (400 Benchlands Drive) — 2 dedicated indoor regulation courts.
  • Westbrook Community Arena (40 Westbrook Drive) — 2 shared indoor regulation courts.
  • Riverside Flats Park (25 Water Street) — 4 dedicated outdoor regulation courts.
  • Ambrel Lake Park (1350 Ambrel Lake Road) — 2 shared outdoor regulation courts.
  • Benchlands Lookout Park (500 Benchlands Drive) — 2 outdoor non-regulation courts.

Rental rates

Hourly rental fees apply to all booked courts. Prices do not include tax. Drop-in play at outdoor courts is free but follows the paddle rack system.

Booking and availability

To secure a court for a tournament, league, or private lesson, you must submit a facility rental application. Bookings open four weeks in advance and are confirmed upon payment. For drop-in play, courts are available on a walk-up basis during posted hours.

Outdoor courts are closed from March 15 to May 15 and from October 31 to November 15 each year. This freeze-thaw maintenance period protects the court surfaces and ensures safe play during the rest of the year.

Rules and etiquette

Wrenford follows the Paddle Rack Rotation System at all outdoor courts to keep play fair and moving. When all courts are in use, place your paddle in the next available slot. Games are limited to 11 points or 15 minutes. Once your game ends, rejoin the queue by placing your paddle at the end of the rack.

Additional court guidelines include:

  • Non-marking athletic shoes are required at all times.
  • Groups must consist of two players for singles or four for doubles.
  • No outside coaching, ball machines, or loud amplification during peak hours.
  • Prohibited items include bikes, skates, pets, food, chairs, smoking materials, and glass containers.
  • Courts are for racquet sports only. Do not walk through active playing areas.

These rules are enforced under Park and Facility Use By-law 2025-162.
