Call 9-1-1 or 3-1-1
If someone is hurt, or if a fire, flood, or other danger is happening right now, call 9-1-1. Do not use your phone to text 9-1-1 unless you cannot speak. If you need help that is not life-threatening, such as a traffic accident with no injuries or a downed power line, call 3-1-1 or 519-555-0100. Keep your phone charged and within reach so you can stay connected with emergency workers.
Follow the instructions of emergency workers
Wrenford Police Service, Wrenford Fire Rescue, and Wrenford Paramedic Services will arrive on the scene to keep you safe. Listen to their directions carefully. They may ask you to move to a safe area, leave your home, or stay inside. Follow their instructions exactly. Do not argue with them or try to enter blocked areas. Your safety and the safety of responders is the top priority.
Shelter in place or evacuate
If you are told to shelter in place, stay inside. Close all windows and doors. Turn off fans and heating or cooling systems that pull in outside air. Wait for an official all-clear before leaving your home. If you are told to evacuate, leave immediately. Take your emergency kit, your pets, and any needed medications. Do not stop to pack extra items. Drive only if it is safe to do so, and follow designated evacuation routes.
Stay away from the scene
Keep your car and your phone lines clear so that emergency vehicles and workers can reach the area quickly. Do not return to the scene until officials say it is safe. Even if you feel fine, stay back. Debris, downed wires, and contaminated water can cause harm later.
Check on your neighbours
If it is safe to do so, check on older adults or neighbours who may need extra help. You can also call the City at 519-555-0100 to report a concern. If you hear a distress call, try to help without putting yourself in danger.
Stay calm and follow official updates
Turn on a local radio or check the City service alerts page for updates. Do not share unverified information on social media. Official updates come from the City of Wrenford and the Wrenford Police Service. If you or a family member feel overwhelmed, call the Wrenford Community Crisis Support Line at 519-555-0140 for free emotional support.
