Stay informed during an emergency
The City of Wrenford uses the Wrenford Emergency Alert Network to send you direct updates about serious local emergencies. These alerts give you clear instructions on how to stay safe during severe weather, power outages, infrastructure failures, or other critical incidents. Signing up is free and takes just a few minutes.
Questions? Contact Wrenford 311 at 519-555-0100.
How to sign up
You can receive alerts by text message, email, phone call, or through our mobile app. We recommend setting up two or more methods so you get the message even if one system is delayed.
- Mobile app: Download the Wrenford Emergency Alert Network app from the App Store or Google Play. It is free and works on smartphones, tablets, and computers.
- Text, email, or phone: Visit the sign-up portal online or call 311 to register your contact details.
Choose your alert levels
Once you are signed up, you will see three types of alerts:
- Critical alerts: Issued for active emergencies that need immediate action. These cannot be turned off.
- Advisory alerts: Issued to warn you about disruptions that may get worse, giving you time to prepare.
- Information alerts: General updates about city services and community news.
You can turn advisory and information alerts on or off in your account settings. If you only want the most important warnings, you can select critical alerts only.
Set your locations
Alerts are sent based on where you live, work, or visit. When you sign up, add your home address and your Wrenford neighbourhood. You can also add your workplace or a family member's address. If you travel often, turn on the Follow Me feature in the app to receive alerts for your current location.
Accessibility and language
The Wrenford Emergency Alert Network app meets national accessibility standards. It is available in the same language as your device settings. We also provide an in-app translation tool for more than 30 languages. Please note that machine translation is not reviewed by the City, so accuracy may vary. For large-print or audio alert options, call 311.
What if I miss an alert?
Check that you added the right location in your settings. Make sure your phone is not on silent mode, or enable Override Silent Mode for critical alerts. A weak internet or cellular signal can delay messages. If you are not sure whether an alert was sent, check the active alerts page on our website or listen to local radio and television broadcasts.
