The City of Wrenford is adding adaptive swim lessons at the Northgate Aquatic Centre for the spring season, giving residents with physical, sensory, or developmental needs a safe and supportive place to learn water skills. Registration opens on March 1, 2027.
The new lessons will run at the Northgate Aquatic Centre, located at 910 Northgate Boulevard. They are designed for swimmers who need extra support or modified instruction. Instructors will work with small groups to build confidence in the water. The centre already offers a 50-metre lap pool and a waterslide, and these sessions will use quieter times or dedicated lanes to reduce noise and crowding. All instructors have completed specialized training in inclusive water safety. You can call 519-555-0121 to ask questions.
"We want every resident to feel comfortable and supported in the water," says Caroline Dubé, Recreation Programs Coordinator. "These adaptive lessons are a natural step in our plan to make all recreation programs inclusive."
Residents can sign up online or in person at the service counter in Wrenford City Hall. The City's Accessibility at the City outlines how we remove barriers in our buildings and programs. If you need an attendant, a sign language interpreter, or a sensory backpack, you can book those supports when you register.
