Youth inclusion and support services

Learn about safe spaces, inclusive programs, and free recreation passes for youth in Wrenford.

Safe spaces for young people

Wrenford wants every young person between the ages of twelve and eighteen to have a place where they can be themselves. Our Youth Inclusion Circles are free drop-in sessions at the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre. You can come and go as you please. Light snacks are provided. We ask that you do not bring any scented products, as our spaces are designed to be safe for people with allergies and sensory sensitivities. Staff are trained to support mental health and wellness. If you need a quiet space, ask the front desk for a quiet room. You are welcome to bring a friend, and allies are encouraged to attend. All programs follow the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 to ensure full participation.

Inclusive recreation programs

We run programs that welcome youth of all abilities and backgrounds. You can try adapted sports through Wrenford All-Stars, or join Creative Voices to explore art, comics, and storytelling. These programs are led by trained facilitators who understand youth development. You do not need to register for drop-in sessions, but booking a spot helps us plan for equipment and snacks. To see the full schedule, visit Access community recreation programs. If you need help navigating the booking system, staff at the Downtown Transit Terminal can show you how to use a public computer.

Youth Volunteer Recognition Pass

Do you spend your time helping local non-profits or community groups? The Youth Volunteer Recognition Pass is our way of saying thank you. If you complete twenty hours of volunteer work with a registered Wrenford non-profit, you can request three free recreation passes. Each pass gives you one free entry to any City recreation facility, including the Northgate Aquatic Centre and the Westbrook Community Arena. The passes are valid for twelve months from the day you get them. You cannot sell or trade them. To apply, fill out the form on Youth community center programs and access and attach a letter from your volunteer supervisor confirming your hours. Passes are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis each month.

How to use your pass

Write your name clearly on the pass. Present it at the cashier station when you arrive. If you lose your pass, you can contact Contact us to request a replacement, but please note that only one replacement is allowed per calendar year.

Feedback and youth advisory

Your voice matters in how the City plans youth services. The Youth Advisory Committee meets once a month at City Hall to recommend new programs and review existing ones. Members receive a travel stipend to cover bus or Wrenford Access fares. If you are between fourteen and twenty-four, you can apply in August for the next term. You can also share ideas through Youth engagement and feedback channels or speak during the public comment period at Council meetings. We aim to reply to all submissions within two business days.
