How commercial property tax works

As a business owner in Wrenford, you pay property tax based on the assessed value of your commercial, industrial, or multi-unit property. The City uses this revenue to fund essential services like road maintenance, snow clearing, water and wastewater treatment, and public safety.

Assessment and rates

Your property tax bill is calculated by multiplying your assessed value by the approved non-residential tax rate. For the 2026 taxation year, the non-residential rate is 0.0232400. You can estimate your bill using the Property tax calculator or view the full breakdown on the Property tax breakdown page. Each business property has a unique roll number found on your tax notice. This number ensures your payments and correspondence are tracked correctly.

Payment options and deadlines

Businesses receive two interim tax bills and two final tax bills each year. The interim bills are due on the last business day of February and April. The final bills are due on the last business day of June and September. You can pay through online banking, at City Hall, or through the Wrenford eProperty portal.

If you prefer to spread payments, you can enroll in the Wrenford Tax Instalment Plan (WTIP). Monthly payments are withdrawn automatically. Please note that a third-party processor fee of $3.50 per transaction applies to credit card payments, and a $25.00 administrative fee is charged if a payment is made to the wrong roll number. You must cancel the WTIP before the 22nd of the month preceding your next scheduled payment.

Missed payments and penalties

Unpaid property tax balances incur a penalty of 2 per cent per month. If your business is facing financial hardship, you may qualify for the Penalty Reduction Plan, which offers reduced arrears penalties when you commit to a 24-month payment schedule. Late payments may also be referred to the Provincial Offences Court.
