Reports and decisions

Fall water main flushing

Staff reported that fall flushing is beginning in the north end neighbourhoods to maintain water pressure and quality. You should expect discoloured water and temporary pressure drops during these tests. The City advises running cold water for a few minutes if it looks brown. Residents with medical needs who rely on consistent water pressure should contact the City beforehand so we can make special arrangements.

Zoning amendment for Mercer Street

Council reviewed a proposal to rezone a property on Mercer Street to allow for mixed-use development. The amendment aligns with the City's Official Plan and supports local economic growth. The Council voted to approve the amendment, noting that the new development will add much-needed housing and retail space in the downtown core.

Winter maintenance schedule

Staff provided an update on the upcoming winter maintenance schedule. Plowing will begin on main roads after 5 cm of snow and on residential streets after 8 cm. You can track plowing routes on the City Services map and sign up for text alerts to stay informed. The City reminds residents to clear their driveways promptly after snowfall to help crews work safely and efficiently.
