Delegations

A Benchlands resident spoke in favour of the proposed speed reduction. A representative for a residential development on Corvid Way also addressed the council.

Reports and decisions

Traffic and parking amendment The council reviewed a report on traffic calming for Benchlands Drive. They voted to lower the speed limit to 40 km/h to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. Carried 6-1.

Rezoning application The council considered a proposal to rezone a property at 15 Corvid Way for a new mixed-use building. Staff confirmed it aligns with the Official Plan. The council approved the amendment to Zoning By-law 2016-040. Carried 7-0.

Draft 2026 budget Administration presented the draft operating and capital budget. The proposal includes a 6.1 per cent property tax increase and funds for road repairs, park upgrades, and transit service improvements. You can view the full documents online and submit feedback through Wrenford 311. The council moved the draft budget to second reading. Carried 7-0.

Draft 2027 budget The council also reviewed the preliminary 2027 budget framework. It outlines long-term capital projects and anticipated revenue. The council directed staff to refine the figures and return with a final draft in January. Carried 7-0.

Holiday lighting announcement Mayor Okafor-Price announced that the annual holiday lighting display at Benchlands Lookout Park will be switched on this Saturday, December 13. You are welcome to attend the evening ceremony.

Confirmation of proceedings The council reviewed and approved the minutes from its previous meeting. Carried 7-0.
