Reports and decisions

Transit spring schedule changes

Council reviewed a report on updating fixed-route schedules for the warmer months. Starting April 1, you will see extended evening service on four main routes and a new Saturday trip. These changes are designed to match spring travel patterns and give you more reliable options. The council approved the updated schedule. (Carried)

Zoning amendment for 142 Mercer Street

Council considered a proposal to update the zoning for a property at 142 Mercer Street. The amendment allows a new mixed-use building that combines ground-floor retail with residential units above. Staff confirmed the design meets the city's height and setback standards. This change supports the city's goal of increasing housing options while keeping active street frontages in the downtown core. The council approved the zoning amendment. (Carried)

2024 tax levy by-law

The City Manager presented the final tax levy for the year. The levy sets the overall budget for city services and establishes the property tax rates for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Council debated the allocation for winter maintenance and park upgrades before voting. The tax levy was adopted. (Carried)

Winter maintenance and spring transition

Council received a report on the city's winter road service. Staff reported that all main roads were cleared within the standard response times. The council noted the report and authorized the transition to spring street sweeping and park opening procedures. Residents can expect regular garbage and recycling collection to resume on their usual schedules. (Carried)
