Attendance
All seven members of council were present. City Manager Robert Eng and City Clerk Nadia Kowalczyk joined the meeting to support the proceedings.
Delegations
A resident from the Benchlands neighbourhood addressed council to thank the city for expanding transit options and to request clear signage for the new on-demand service.
Reports and decisions
2024 municipal budget and parking rates — Council reviewed the operating budget and approved updated parking rates for downtown zones and garage permits. Eastfield Twin Arenas ice resurfacing — Council approved a daily ice resurfacing schedule at Eastfield Twin Arenas from January 8 to January 31, 2024. Winter road safety campaign — Council endorsed a city-wide winter road safety campaign ahead of the Ice Days festival. The initiative reminds drivers and residents to prepare for freezing temperatures and adjust their driving habits for safer travel. Carried 7-0. Benchlands on-demand transit — Council authorized the rollout of Wrenford Flex on-demand transit in the Benchlands neighbourhood. The service offers riders a faster, bookable ride option to improve connectivity in the area. Carried 7-0. Book your rides through the Wrenford Transit app.
Waste collection schedule — Council noted the resumption of normal garbage and green bin collection following the heavy snowfall in December 2023.
