What we do
The Elections Office runs municipal elections for the City of Wrenford. We make sure every election follows the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and provincial rules. We also manage the voter list and handle campaign finance reporting.
Next municipal election
Wrenford holds municipal elections every four years. The next election is on Monday, October 26, 2026. Residents will vote for a mayor and six councillors. The new council takes office on November 15, 2026.
Check your voter registration
To vote, you must be on the voter list. You can register online, by mail, or in person at City Hall. The deadline to register is October 10, 2026. If you move or change your name, update your address right away so you do not miss out.
Running for office
If you want to stand for mayor or council, you must meet the eligibility rules. You need to be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen, and have lived or owned property in Wrenford for at least six months before nomination day. You must also submit a financial disclosure statement with your nomination papers.
The nomination period opens on October 2, 2026. You can pick up a nomination packet at City Hall or download it from our website. All candidates must follow the Local Election Campaign Financing Act. Expense limits are set by the province based on the size of the electoral area.
Election signs
Political signs are allowed on private property with the owner's permission. You must follow Election signs for size, placement, and removal. Signs cannot go on City property, roadways, or within two metres of the curb. All signs must come down by October 29, 2026.
Work on election day
The City hires seasonal election workers to run the polls on October 26. You can apply through the Elections Office. The deadline to apply is October 15, 2026. Selected workers will attend a mandatory training session on October 19, 2026. Workers are paid $28.00 per hour.
