Am I eligible to vote?

To vote in Wrenford municipal elections, you must meet these rules under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996:

  • You are at least 18 years old on election day.
  • You are a Canadian citizen.
  • You live in Wrenford, or you own or lease property here and live in Ontario.
  • You are not legally disqualified from voting (for example, you are not serving a prison sentence for an offence).

If you have lived or worked in Wrenford for a Canadian government department or the Canadian Forces, you may also be eligible. Check the Election resources page for more details.

How to check your registration

Voter registration is not automatic. You must register with the City before the election. You can check your status in three ways:

  1. Call 311 (or 519-555-0100 if you are outside the city). A representative will look up your name in the voter list.
  2. Visit the Elections Office in person at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street. Our staff can check your status and update your address on the spot.
  3. Mail a request. Send a written request with your full name, date of birth, and current address to: Elections Office, P.O. Box 1234, Station Main, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1.

What you need to bring

If you visit City Hall to check your registration or register for the first time, bring one piece of photo identification and one piece of proof of your Wrenford address. Acceptable documents include a driver's licence, Ontario photo card, utility bill, or bank statement. If you share a home with someone else, you can use their proof of address along with a signed confirmation form available at City Hall.

If you are not registered

Don't worry. You can register at the same time you check your status. Just fill out a Voter Registration Form at City Hall or mail it to the address above. You will receive a confirmation notice in the mail once your name is added to the list.

Important dates
