Memorial bench and tree program

About the program

Wrenford offers a Memorial Bench and Tree Program so you can honour a family member, friend, or community volunteer in a lasting way. You can choose to install a commemorative plaque on an existing park bench or sponsor a new memorial tree in a neighbourhood park.

The City has offered this program since 2004. Because park space is shared by everyone, we limit the number of memorials and use term limits so future residents also have a chance to participate.

How to apply

Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not keep a waiting list. Please read the program guidelines and download the application form before you start.

You can submit your completed application and proof of payment by email to [email protected] or drop it off at the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre. A Parks staff member will review your request and contact you to confirm approval before any work begins.

Terms and conditions

• Memorials are approved for either five or ten years. You will be contacted near the end of your term to discuss renewal.
• If we cannot reach you, or you choose not to renew, the plaque will be removed and stored. You can claim it within one year.
• Installation happens between May and October, depending on the weather and park conditions.
• Messages must be positive and respectful. The City must approve all wording before it goes to the supplier.
• Do not tamper with, move, or attach items to the bench or the tree. Only City staff may install or remove memorials.
• The City maintains the bench or tree and handles repairs for damage or vandalism during your approved term. We reserve the right to move or remove a memorial to accommodate park improvements or unforeseen events.
• Placing unauthorized memorials in park spaces is not permitted and may be removed at the discretion of Parks staff.

Costs

Payment in full is required before installation. Renewal fees are not prepayable at the time of purchase.
