Sports field status

Check the current condition and availability of Wrenford's outdoor sports fields before you head out.

Check field conditions

Wrenford's outdoor sports fields are open to the public, but conditions change with the weather and seasonal maintenance. Check the status table below before you head out to play. The list is updated daily by 3:00 p.m. on weekdays and by 9:00 a.m. on weekends.

Field Name Area Status Notes
Ambrel Lake Field Ambrel Lake Park OPEN In good condition.
Riverside Flats Pitch Riverside Flats Park USE AT YOUR OWN RISK Wet patches after recent rain. Avoid cleats.
Benchlands Practice Pitch Benchlands Lookout Park CLOSED Closed for seasonal drainage work until October 30.
Centennial Green Centennial Gardens OPEN Open for casual play and picnics.
Wildrye Community Field Wildrye Park OPEN Ready for league play.

What the statuses mean

  • OPEN: The field is in good playing condition and is open for use.
  • USE AT YOUR OWN RISK: The field is slippery, uneven, or poses a potentially unsafe condition. Use is not recommended and is at your own discretion. Avoid wearing metal cleats on wet turf.
  • CLOSED: The City has deemed the field unplayable due to severe weather, drainage work, or turf damage. Any scheduled bookings on a closed field are cancelled. If you play on a closed field, you take full responsibility for any injuries or damage.

How you can help keep fields safe

Our parks team works hard to maintain safe, playable spaces, but we rely on you to report problems quickly. If you notice torn fencing, standing water, broken equipment, or turf damage, use the parks reporting tool on our website or call 311. Reporting issues early helps us fix them before they become bigger hazards.

Seasonal closures and winter maintenance

Fields close for winter maintenance on December 1. During the freeze-thaw cycle in spring, fields may remain closed until the ground dries out and the turf recovers. The City typically resumes full spring field care in late April. If you have a league or event booked during these periods, staff will contact you about rescheduling or refunds.
