The City of Wrenford's overnight on-street parking ban ends at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026. Regular street parking resumes on Tuesday, May 5, giving you full access to downtown and neighbourhood roads through the spring and summer.
Every winter, the City enforces the overnight parking ban on all main roads and winter maintenance routes from December 1 through May 3. The ban runs from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. each night to give Roads & Winter Maintenance crews enough room to clear snowbanks and keep sidewalks safe for pedestrians. When the ban is lifted, you will switch to standard parking bylaws and we will begin street sweeping from May through June.
"We appreciate everyone's patience over the past five months," says James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "When you move your cars during the ban hours, it helps our plows and salt trucks clear the full width of the road. That keeps traffic flowing and makes it much easier for pedestrians to walk along cleared sidewalks."
If you need to keep your vehicle parked during the ban hours, you can apply for a snow route parking ban exemption. Exemptions are issued for people living on routes where plowing is impossible, for those with medical needs, or for businesses that require regular vehicle access. Applications are available at the Service Wrenford counter in City Hall or online. A small annual fee applies, and approved permits must be clearly displayed in your vehicle window.
Even after the ban lifts, you should remember that on-street parking is still restricted in certain zones. Downtown and Fallsview areas have time-limited parking during business hours, and some residential streets require a residential parking permit. Check the Street Parking Guide for zone maps and time limits. Illegal parking can result in fines under the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075.
