City crews are back on track with regular garbage, recycling, and organics collection following the heavy storms that hit Wrenford earlier this week. Residents in affected neighbourhoods will see their usual collection schedules resume starting today.
The intense rainfall and wind on Monday and Tuesday made it unsafe for automated trucks to navigate certain streets, particularly in the Riverside Flats and Benchlands areas where wet leaves and fallen branches blocked access. Over the past three days, crews worked extra shifts to clear the backlog and catch up on missed pickups across all six wards. By Thursday afternoon, the fleet had returned to its normal route order.
While service is fully restored, residents should keep a few things in mind. If your cart was missed during the storm, please leave it at the curb by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow morning for collection. Crews will pick up any carts that were left out but not emptied due to the weather disruptions. Be sure to place your black cart, blue bin, and green bin with the lids open and at least one metre apart from vehicles and other carts.
“We know that keeping your neighbourhood clean is important, and we appreciate your patience while our crews worked through the storm debris,” says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. “Our teams have been working around the clock to get back to your streets, and we are now fully caught up.”
If you still have not seen a collection truck in your area, or if your cart was damaged during the storm, please report it through the Service Wrenford app or call 519-555-0100. You can also track upcoming route changes and read more about how to prepare your carts for pickup on the Garbage & Recycling page.
