What goes in your black cart

Your black cart is for household garbage that cannot be recycled or composted. This includes diapers, hygiene products, garden hoses, and items that have reached the end of their life. We collect your black cart every two weeks year-round.

Place your cart at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Keep it at least one metre away from parked cars, mailboxes, and other obstacles so the truck can lift it safely.

What stays out

Please keep these items out of your black cart. They belong in the blue cart for recycling, the green bin for composting, or a special disposal drop-off:

  • Cardboard, paper, and mixed packaging (now collected in the blue cart under the provincial Blue Box programme)
  • Food scraps, yard waste, and paper yard-waste bags
  • Electronics, batteries, and motor oil
  • Propane tanks, paint, and solvents
  • Tires and large appliances

Find your collection schedule

Every neighbourhood in Wrenford has a set pickup day. Use the tool on the collection schedule page to find your exact day and season. You can also sign up for free text or email reminders so you never miss a pickup.

Holiday schedule changes

If a statutory holiday falls on your regular pickup day, your collection will move to the next business day. See the holiday schedule page for the full 2026 calendar and to confirm if your day shifts.

Extra bags and cart care

If your black cart is full, you can tie extra garbage bags in a bundle and place them next to the cart. Each bag must weigh 10 kg or less. Do not overfill the cart or leave bags inside it. We run free cart washing days on the first Saturday of every month at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility. Bring your empty cart, and our crew will hose it down.

Report a missed pickup

If your cart was not emptied on your scheduled day, report it through Service Wrenford 311 or email [email protected]. Include your address and a photo of your full cart so our team can send a crew back the same day.
