Spring clean-up collection dates announced for May 2026

Spring is here, and the City of Wrenford is ready to help you clear out your garage, basement, and yard. The 2026 Spring Clean-Up program returns this May, giving residents an extra collection day to dispose of large household items alongside your regular garbage pickup.

“Spring Clean-Up is a fantastic way for residents to handle seasonal clutter responsibly while keeping our streets and natural areas free of illegal dumping,” says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. “We encourage everyone to take advantage of these extra collection days, but please remember to sort your items carefully and check the rules before placing them at the curb.”

The City will run three extra collection days in May to accommodate the city-wide clean-up: Monday, May 4; Tuesday, May 12; and Thursday, May 21. During these days, households with regular curbside garbage service may place one truck-sized load of bulky items at the curb. You must leave items out no earlier than the evening before your scheduled collection day.

Accepted items include old furniture, small appliances, carpeting, and general household junk. Please do not place construction debris, yard waste, hazardous materials, or items containing refrigerants. If you have paint, motor oil, batteries, or chemicals, bring them to the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility drop-off depot, which is open on Saturdays from May through October.

For items that fall outside the Spring Clean-Up guidelines, the City offers year-round alternatives. You can schedule a Bulky item pickup for up to three items at a time, or use the Mattress and furniture recycling voucher program to drop off up to two mattresses or large pieces of furniture per year at no extra cost. You can also drop off electronic waste at any of the city’s recreation centres or depots.

Before you start sorting, review the full list of accepted and unaccepted materials on the Garbage & Recycling page. If you have questions about your collection schedule or need help applying for a free recycling voucher, call 519-555-0100.

Keep Wrenford clean and safe this spring by taking the time to dispose of unwanted items properly. For ongoing tips on sorting waste, checking collection schedules, and finding drop-off locations, visit the Garbage & Recycling section.
