East Wrenford Waste Facility opens for fall bulky item pickup

The fall cleanup season is here, and the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility is now open for residents who want to drop off large household items themselves. As leaves start to fall and people tidy up their homes and yards, the City wants to make sure you have clear options for disposing of bulky waste safely and for free.

You can bring eligible items directly to the depot at 3500 Concession 4 Road. The facility is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Acceptable items include old furniture, mattresses, large appliances, and yard waste that does not fit in your green bin. Please note that propane tanks, paint, and electronic waste are not accepted at this time; they must be taken to the seasonal household hazardous waste drop-off or the e-waste bin at the facility.

If you would prefer to leave your items at the curb instead of hauling them yourself, you can use the curbside Bulky item pickup program. Residential customers are allowed three items per pickup, and you can schedule this service twice a year. To book a curbside collection, call 519-555-0100 or visit the Garbage & Recycling section of our website.

"Fall is a busy time for waste diversion, and we are glad to see so many residents taking advantage of both the drop-off depot and our curbside programs," says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "Whether you drop off a sofa at the facility or put it out for collection, you are helping keep Wrenford clean and reducing what goes to the landfill."

Please follow these simple rules when bringing items to the depot:

  • Items must fit in your personal vehicle or on a small trailer.
  • Do not load items higher than the top of your vehicle's cab.
  • Separate any mattresses from other furniture.
  • Keep the site free of litter and follow all posted safety signs.
