Old Victoria hospital lands phase two sale completes with new developer

On June 17, 2025, Wrenford City Council approved the sale of Phase Two of the former hospital lands in the Fallsview neighbourhood. A local development firm will now lead the next stage of the project, which will add mid-rise apartments and ground-floor retail space to the area near the Tamsin River and the Centennial Bridge.

The decision follows a review by the Planning and Development department and aligns with the strategic goals set by Mayor and council. The new site will fit the downtown growth strategy and bring more housing options closer to the river trail system and transit terminals. The developer plans to break ground in early 2026 and open the building in 2027.

"This sale is a significant step forward for our downtown core," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "It brings new housing options closer to the river trail and supports local jobs while preserving the character of the area."

Residents who want to see the full council vote or review the development agreement can find the minutes on the council meeting schedules page. If you have questions about the project's timeline, you can contact the Council office directly through the city's main service line.

Council meetings are held regularly and are open to the public. You can find the full schedule and watch the live stream on the council meeting schedules page. If you would like to attend in person, see the Attend a council meeting guide.
