City warns residents against illegal dumping at Ambrel Lake Park

The City of Wrenford is asking residents to properly dispose of waste and debris after recent reports of illegal dumping at Ambrel Lake Park. Leaving trash, furniture, or construction materials in public parks harms the environment, endangers wildlife, and costs taxpayers money to clean up.

Illegal dumping is a violation of the Waste Management By-law. If you are caught, you could face a fine of up to $500. Businesses can be fined up to $20,000. City by-law officers and the Wrenford Police Service work closely to investigate these complaints. Once a report is submitted, crews typically visit the site within four business days to document the issue and begin cleanup.

If you see someone dumping waste in a park or on a city lot, please report it right away. You can use the report illegal dumping form online, or call 519-555-0100. The sooner you report it, the faster we can address it.

Residents have many free and low-cost options for disposing of waste. The East Wrenford Waste Management Facility accepts household garbage, recycling, green bin organics, and bulky items. The Northgate Drop-off Depot is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays for larger loads. You can also schedule a free bulky item pickup or use your weekly green bin for yard waste and food scraps.

“We rely on our neighbours to look after our shared spaces,” says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. “When waste is left in the park, it creates safety hazards and damages the natural areas we all enjoy. Please use our official collection services or the drop-off depots instead.”
