The trail loop at Ambrel Lake Park is temporarily closed due to ice and unsafe conditions. Crews have installed barricades along the path as of today, December 18, 2025, and will keep them in place until the route is fully cleared and inspected.
Recent freezing weather has left sections of the boardwalk and trail surface uneven and slippery. The City's parks and trails team is monitoring conditions daily and will not reopen the loop until it is safe for pedestrians, runners, and cyclists.
Please obey all signage and do not cross the barricades. While this section remains closed, you can still access the rest of the Tamsin River Trail System. We recommend using the cleared sections near Riverside Flats Park or Benchlands Lookout Park as alternate routes.
"Safety is our top priority this season," said Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "We are working quickly to clear the ice and assess the path, but we need the public to stay clear of the work zone until we give the all-clear."
