Wrenford Public Library announces 2025 winter reading challenge theme

The Wrenford Public Library is inviting readers of all ages to turn the page on the season with the 2025 Winter Reading Challenge, launching online and at all three branches on November 1. The challenge runs through the end of March 2025 and encourages residents to build a habit of reading during the colder months.

This year’s theme is “Frost & Folio: A Winter Reading Journey.” Participants will track their reading across four seasonal prompts that highlight different genres, from cozy mysteries and winter folklore to climate fiction and historical tales set in cold climates. Whether you are an adult looking to unwind or a parent helping a child reach a reading goal, the challenge offers flexible milestones. You can read independently, join a group, or take part in a supervised school reading club through community bookings.

Log books are available free of charge at all three library branches, or you can apply for a digital card to access a printable tracker and a digital reading journal through your account. Participants who complete at least three reading milestones will be entered into a draw for a selection of prize packs, which include library gift cards, local bookstore vouchers, and reading-themed merchandise.

“Winter is the perfect time to curl up with a good book and explore new worlds,” said Tara Sandhu, Library CEO. “We have designed this programme to be inclusive and accessible, so whether you are reading for the first time or you are a lifelong book lover, there is a place for you in Frost & Folio.”

The library will also host a series of companion events throughout the challenge, including winter-themed storytimes for young children, author talks, and quiet reading circles for teens and adults. All events are free and open to the public. Drop-in sessions are scheduled at the Main Branch, the Northgate Branch, and the Ambrel Lake Branch.

To find out more about the reading challenge, check out our youth reading lists, explore themed take-home reading boxes, or visit the library website for the full event calendar. You can also stop by the service desk to pick up a log book or ask a librarian for personalised reading recommendations.
