Northgate Drop-off Depot extends hazardous waste hours for November

Starting November 1, the Northgate Drop-off Depot at 1010 Northgate Boulevard is extending its household hazardous waste drop-off hours for the rest of the month. This special November window gives residents extra time to safely dispose of leftover paints, solvents, automotive fluids, batteries, pesticides, propane tanks, fluorescent bulbs, and thermometers before winter weather makes travel harder.

The service is free for all Wrenford residents. You can drop off your items on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please bring materials in their original containers, keep them upright, and transport them in your trunk or a leak-proof bag. We cannot accept mixed or unknown chemicals.

"We know many residents have leftover household chemicals from summer projects, and we want to make sure they have a safe place to drop them off before the ground freezes," said Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "Dropping these items off at the depot keeps them out of the regular garbage stream and protects our local waterways."

After November, the regular household hazardous waste program returns. You can drop off accepted items for free on Saturdays from May to October at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility on 3500 Concession 4 Road. For the full list of accepted materials and packing rules, visit Household hazardous waste.

While you are at the depot, you can also drop off unwanted electronics, shingles, drywall, and mattresses. Use the Waste Wizard and disposal guide online to check how to sort any other items. For your regular garbage and recycling collection times, see the Garbage and recycling collection schedule.
