Nominations open September 1 for Wrenford 2026 municipal election

Nominations for the Wrenford 2026 municipal election are open as of September 1, 2024. If you are planning to run for mayor or a council seat, you will need to file your paperwork before the deadline. Voters will choose one mayor and six ward councillors to serve on City Council for the 2026–2030 term.

You must submit your nomination documents at the Elections Office in Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street. The period closes at 4:30 p.m. on November 29, 2024.

To run for office, you must meet the eligibility rules in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. You must file a Notice of Intent before you accept campaign funds or spend money. You will also need to submit a completed nomination paper with the required number of signatures from eligible voters in your ward or across the city, along with a refundable nomination deposit.

“There are several important steps you must follow to ensure your paperwork is complete and accepted on time,” said Nadia Kowalczyk, City Clerk. “We encourage anyone considering a run to visit our Elections page early to review the full checklist and download the necessary forms.”

You can sign all nomination forms before a Commissioner for Oaths or the Returning Officer. You can arrange an appointment by calling 311 inside city limits or 519-555-0100 from outside the city. The Elections Office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

You should check your voter registration before the October 10, 2026 deadline. Advance voting will take place October 10 to 12, 2026, with election day on Monday, October 26, 2026.
