The City of Wrenford is preparing for the busy spring season, and early planning is already under way at Civic Operations Centre. Crews from Roads & Winter Maintenance, Parks & Trails, and Waste Services are meeting to map out schedules for street sweeping, park cleanup, and road repairs that will start next month.
Spring maintenance is a big job. After a long winter, sand, salt and debris build up on our streets and in our parks. Street sweeping will begin in April to keep roads clean and protect the Stormwater bylaws and regulations. Crews will also clear snow piles from sidewalks and start repairing potholes as the ground thaws.
"We want to make sure our streets and parks are ready for you as soon as the weather allows," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "This planning phase helps us get the most out of the season and keep our community safe."
Parks crews will also start clearing trails and checking playground equipment. The Tamsin River Trail System will see early weed trimming and litter removal so it is in great shape for spring runners and walkers.
Residents can help by moving vehicles off the street when they see street sweepers in their neighbourhood. Parked cars slow down the work and can leave sections of the road uncleaned. For updates on street sweeping and park projects, check the Service Alerts page or sign up for notifications.
The City is also managing other seasonal priorities this year. With the Elections coming up in the fall, the city will ensure all public spaces and campaign sign areas are clearly marked according to Election rules and more. Keeping the community tidy now makes it easier for everyone to enjoy Wrenford all year round.
