The main trail network and boardwalk at Ambrel Lake Park are fully open following summer maintenance work. Crews from Roads & Winter Maintenance and Parks & Trails finished grading, drainage clearing and surfacing repairs ahead of the busy fall season.
The work focused on the loop around the lake and the connecting path to the boardwalk. Staff swept out fallen leaves, cleared catch basins and checked the wooden structures for wear. The trails are now clear for walkers, runners and cyclists.
As we move into colder months, the City will shift to winter operations. The trails are not ploughed for snow or ice, but you can still use them for walking and hiking. Please keep dogs on a short leash and pick up after them. If you notice a safety hazard like a downed branch or a washout, please report it online.
Winter snow clearing on the main roads around the park will follow the usual schedule. Remember that the on-street parking ban runs from December 1 to March 31, 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. For full details on restricted zones and enforcement, see our Snow route parking bans page. If you have a verified mobility condition, you may be eligible for an exemption under the Snow Route Parking Ban Exemption Program. For more on how the City handles snow and ice in public spaces, see our snow clearing and sidewalk plowing page.
"We want to make sure residents can enjoy the outdoors safely while we prepare the city's road network for winter," says Samuel Adeyemi, GM Infrastructure and Planning. "Thank you for your patience while we completed these upgrades."
The boardwalk is not cleared of snow, so please walk carefully during and after snowfall. For those driving to the park, visitor parking is available on the east side of Ambrel Lake Road. If you need a parking permit for your home, check the Residential parking permits page.
