Report a hazard

Tell us about a tree or branch that is blocking a road, sidewalk, or view, or looks unsafe. You can submit a request online through Service Wrenford, by phone, or by email. Please include the exact location and a photo if you can safely take one.

How we handle reports

Our Roads & Winter Maintenance team reviews all requests during business hours. We usually schedule an inspection within five business days. If the tree is on City land and poses a risk, we will prune or remove it. If the tree is on private property, we will send you a notice explaining that you are responsible for the work. The City does not provide or recommend specific tree care companies.

Fees and rules

There is no charge for inspecting or removing a hazardous tree on City land. If a tree on your private property is blocking a City sidewalk or road, the City can complete the work and bill you for the cost under the Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075. You must use a certified arborist or a qualified contractor for work on your own property.

Emergency situations

If a tree is down on a roadway, blocking a sidewalk, or touching power lines, treat it as an emergency. Call 911 immediately. Do not try to move it yourself or climb into a tree to cut branches.

Who to contact

For all non-emergency tree reports, contact the Roads & Winter Maintenance team through Roads & Winter Maintenance, at 519-555-0112, or by email at [email protected].
