Report a sidewalk issue

Learn how to report cracked or heaved sidewalks, how the city schedules repairs, and what property owners must do in winter.

Report a problem

If a sidewalk is cracked, heaved, or missing, tell us. You can report it through Service Wrenford 311, by calling 519-555-0100, or by using our online request form. Please share the exact address and a photo if you can.

How we prioritise repairs

Our Roads team reviews every report. We check the location, how bad the damage is, and whether it blocks a wheelchair user or a stroller. We group requests by neighbourhood and schedule them into the spring repair season. If a sidewalk is part of a planned street reconstruction, we will fix it then instead.

When repairs happen

Sidewalk work runs from April to October. We wait for the ground to thaw completely so the new concrete lasts. Weather can push dates back a few weeks. If you report an issue in the middle of winter, we will add it to the list for spring.

What the repair looks like

Small cracks and uneven panels get ground down to stop tripping. Heaved slabs get lifted with a cement mix poured underneath. If a section is too far gone, we dig it out and pour a fresh one. We match the new concrete to the old style so the street still looks like Wrenford.

Winter shovelling rules

During snow and ice season, property owners must clear their sidewalks within 24 hours of a storm ending. This keeps everyone safe and stops ice from melting and refreezing in cracks. Fines of $150 apply for the first offence, and $300 for repeat offences under the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097.
