The pathway at Ambrel Lake Park has been cleared and packed for the season. It is now open for winter skating, walking, and trails as of today, February 26, 2024.
Skaters and walkers can enjoy the smooth surface from dawn to dusk. Please keep to the right and yield to pedestrians. If you are walking your dog, keep it on a six-metre leash at all times. Dogs are not allowed on the pathway outside of the designated off-leash area at Hollis Park. Quiet hours begin at 9:00 p.m. to respect nearby residents. Please watch for other users and check the weather before you head out. Ice can form quickly on shaded sections, so wear bright clothing and carry a phone if you are skating alone.
“The Parks & Trails team works hard to keep our routes safe and smooth all winter long,” says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. “We encourage everyone to share the space and look out for one another.”
If you see a patch of ice, a broken boardwalk, or a fallen branch, please let us know. You can report a park maintenance issue through our online form or call 311. Crews aim to visit urgent safety concerns within twenty-four hours.
For more information on how to use our parks safely, visit the full list of park rules and regulations. You can also find locations and hours for all our winter rinks on our outdoor skating map.
Check the weather and dress warmly. Enjoy the trail!
