The Wrenford Public Library Board approved its 2024 operating budget on December 19, 2023, at its regular meeting at the Main Branch on Mercer Street. The approved budget prioritizes digital access, ensuring that you can use modern technology, free Wi-Fi hotspots, and online learning tools at no extra cost.
Under the new budget, you will have access to upgraded computers at all three branches—Main, Northgate, and Ambrel Lake—and you can check out digital devices for free. Staff will also host free monthly workshops where you can learn to use library tablets, navigate online government services, and protect your personal information online. These changes respond directly to your feedback asking for more ways to use technology outside the home.
“This budget keeps our libraries at the heart of the community while making sure no one is left behind in a digital world,” said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. “The library is more than books. It is a place where people learn, connect, and access the services they need every day.”
You can visit any branch to pick up a free Wi-Fi hotspot, borrow a library tablet, or sign up for a digital literacy session. If you are a new patron, you can apply for a library card at the front desk or through the Get a library card portal. Online registration is open 24 hours a day, and youth under 13 must apply with a parent or guardian.
The library board meets monthly to review service plans, approve spending, and welcome public comment. You can attend the next meeting on the fourth Wednesday of January at 7:00 p.m. in the Main Branch community room. Full meeting minutes and budget documents are available on the Library board meeting page.
