Jump into leadership and volunteer roles
Wrenford offers free programs where youth aged 11 to 22 can build confidence, practice public speaking, and give back to the community. Whether you want to advise the city, earn an award, or help with fire safety events, there is a spot for you.
Youth Advisory Committee
Get a seat at the table. The Youth Advisory Committee meets once a month at City Hall. Members aged 14 to 22 help plan youth events, review city by-laws, and share ideas directly with Council. We cover the cost of bus or Wrenford Access fares so travel is never a barrier. Applications open every August. Email [email protected] to request an application form or ask questions.
Youth Citizenship Award
Recognize the young people in your life who go above and beyond. The Youth Citizenship Award honours residents aged 13 to 29 who have made a positive impact in Wrenford. Nominations are open until April 15 each year. Winners are celebrated at a public ceremony hosted by the Mayor and Council in May. Visit the Youth citizenship award nominations page to submit a form online or pick one up at City Hall.
Youth Safety Squad and Camp Tamsin
Get hands-on experience with first responders. The Youth Safety Squad runs free classroom fire safety workshops for students in grades 4 to 7. Older youth can apply for Camp Tamsin, an annual youth fire academy held every August. Participants learn about equipment, station life, and community emergency response. Applications for Camp Tamsin open in spring. Contact the Public Safety team at [email protected] for details.
How to register and what to bring
Most City youth programs are free. To join the Youth Advisory Committee or apply for the Citizenship Award, you must be a Wrenford resident. For hands-on programs like Safety Squad, please bring:
- A completed Youth Participant Information Form and liability waiver (available at the Youth Engagement Hub or on the Youth community center programs and access page)
- Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes
- A reusable water bottle and a light snack
- A notebook and pen for workshops
Visit the Youth Engagement Hub
Need help finding the right program or want to talk through an application? Drop into the Youth Engagement Hub in Room 202 at Wrenford City Hall. You can meet with a youth worker, use a computer, or pick up printed forms. The Hub is open Monday to Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. No appointment is needed.
