Youth education and learning partnerships

Learn about the City's partnerships with local schools, colleges and community groups that bring hands-on learning to Wrenford youth.

Working with schools, colleges and community groups

The City of Wrenford partners with local schools, colleges and community organizations to bring hands-on learning opportunities to young people. Whether you are a student, a teacher or a youth group leader, these partnerships help connect classroom lessons with real-world experiences around the Tamsin River and our neighbourhoods.

School and college field trips

Our Parks and Trails team works with the Wrenford District School Board and the Wrenford Catholic District School Board to arrange outdoor education days. You can join guided walks along the Tamsin River Trail System to study local ecology, or visit the Corvid Creek Ravine Natural Area to learn about watershed health. The Tamsin Valley Conservation Authority also runs seasonal workshops on floodplain awareness and native species.

Tamsin College students often use the Ambrel Lake Park boardwalk and the Tamsin River Water Treatment Plant educational reports for environmental science and engineering projects. The College's applied technology faculty also provides guest lectures at high schools during STEM weeks.

Library and community learning

The Wrenford Public Library runs after-school coding clubs, robotics workshops and digital literacy sessions for youth aged 10 to 18. These programmes are held at the Main Branch, Northgate Branch and Ambrel Lake Branch. Teachers and youth group leaders can reserve the Tamsin Room or the Northgate Room at the library to host their own study groups or project presentations.

At the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre, the Recreation Programs team offers summer coding camps and science discovery sessions for youth. These are open to all young people in the city, not just library card holders.

How to get involved

If you teach in Wrenford or lead a youth group, you can book a facility room for a learning session or request a field trip. Contact the Parks and Trails team or visit the Youth Employment Hub at the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre to learn about upcoming partnerships and volunteer opportunities.
