What is a community association?
A community association is a group of residents who work together to improve your neighbourhood. You can register your association with the City of Wrenford to get official support, access City resources, and have a seat at the table when neighbourhood decisions are made.
Why register?
Registered associations get benefits that help your group stay active and funded. When you register, you can:
- Book meeting rooms at City facilities at a discounted rate
- Apply for neighbourhood grants, including the Neighbourhood revitalization grants program
- Join the Neighbourhoods Advisory Committee and give feedback directly to Council
- Use the City logo on your letterhead and promotional materials
- Receive a free copy of the annual Neighbourhoods Handbook
Who can register?
To register, your group must represent a clearly defined area in Wrenford. You need at least ten founding members who live in that area. Your group must also have a simple constitution that explains your purpose, how you elect your board, and how you make decisions. We welcome associations focused on green spaces, local history, community safety, events, or general neighbourhood improvement.
How to register
Follow these steps to get your association on the City's official register.
- Download the registration form. Get the Neighbourhood Association Registration Form from the Neighbourhoods page.
- Gather your documents. You will need a signed list of founding members, a copy of your constitution, and a roster of your first board of directors. Include each person's name, address in the neighbourhood, and phone number or email.
- Submit your application. Email your completed package to [email protected] or drop it off at Room 305, Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street.
- Pay the processing fee. A one-time fee of $25.00 covers the administrative review. You can pay online or by cheque at City Hall.
- Wait for the review. Our Neighbourhoods team will review your application within ten business days. If everything is in order, we will send you a confirmation letter and an official registration number.
Annual renewal
Registration is not permanent. To keep your status, you must submit an annual update every year by March 31. This update simply confirms your board roster, your current contact person, and that you are still active in the neighbourhood. If you do not submit the update, your registration will lapse and you will lose access to booking privileges and grant eligibility until you reapply.
Need help getting started?
If you are gathering your first members or drafting a constitution, our Neighbourhoods Coordinator can answer your questions. You can also volunteer with community groups to meet other local leaders, or book a community centre room to hold your first planning meeting.
