Neighbourhood revitalization grants

Get funding from the City to improve your street, park or community space. Learn eligibility, deadlines and how to apply.

What you can fund

The Neighbourhood Revitalization Grant helps residents and community groups turn ideas into real changes on your street or in your park. You can use the money for things like adding new street trees, painting community murals, building a small playground, installing safer crosswalks, or hosting a neighbourhood gathering. The goal is to make your area a better place to live, walk and play.

If you are part of a registered neighbourhood association or a local business group, you can apply on your own or team up with others in your area. We also welcome proposals from residents who want to start a project in their immediate area. Projects must follow the City's Zoning, the By-laws and any local design guidelines. We encourage you to talk to neighbours early in the process so everyone supports the plan.

How to apply

Applying is simple. You can submit your proposal online through the Wrenford eGrants portal or pick up a paper form at Wrenford City Hall. When you fill out the form, you will need to answer a few questions about your plan, estimate your costs and show how your neighbours will benefit. If you need help with the application, staff can walk you through it at City Hall or over the phone.

All applications are reviewed by a panel of City staff and local community volunteers. They look for projects that are safe, well-planned and likely to bring people together. You will hear back about the result within eight weeks of the closing date. If your project is approved, you will need to secure the required building or event permits before work begins.

Fees and funding amounts

Grants range from $5,000 to $15,000 for smaller, single-street or park projects. Larger projects that cover a wider area or include multiple improvements can receive up to $40,000. The City does not charge an application fee. Successful applicants must provide a matching contribution from other sources, such as local business sponsors, volunteer labour or in-kind donations. This matching support can be cash or the dollar value of donated materials and hours.

Once your project is approved, you will need to submit a short completion report and photos within sixty days of finishing the work. Funds are paid in two installments: forty per cent at the start to cover initial costs and the remainder after the City inspects the finished work.
