Community beautification grants

Apply for the Neighbourhood Beautification Grant to fund park upgrades, murals, and planting beds in your community.

What you can fund

The Neighbourhood Beautification Grant helps registered community associations and neighbourhood groups improve shared spaces across Wrenford. You can use this funding to plan and build projects that make our streets, parks, and commercial corridors feel more welcoming. Eligible projects include community garden beds, park seating and shade structures, mural walls, wayfinding signage, and utility box art. We also support projects that remove blight, such as graffiti removal, overgrown lot clean-up, and planter installation along busy walkways. If your group is part of the Downtown BIA, you can also use this grant to enhance the retail corridor.

How to apply

Applications open each year from March 1 to May 31. You must submit a completed application form, a clear project plan, a budget breakdown, and proof that your group has registered as a community association or neighbourhood group with the City. You can drop off or mail your package to the Planning & Development office on the third floor of City Hall, or email a scanned copy directly to our grants team. Make sure your application is complete before the deadline, as we do not accept late submissions.

Fees and matching funds

The City provides up to $7,500 per project. You must secure a 50% match from your group, local businesses, or other fundraising efforts before we release the grant funds. The City pays its share only after you have submitted proof of your matching contribution and a signed agreement to follow all City safety and permitting rules. If your project costs less than the grant amount, we will adjust the funding to match your actual budget, still requiring the 50% match.

Review and reporting rules

A review panel made up of City staff, a local artist, and community representatives scores every application against set criteria like neighbourhood impact, feasibility, and long-term maintenance plans. Successful recipients must follow the 60-day completion reporting rule. This means you have to finish the project and submit a final report with photos within 60 days of the start date. If you need more time, you must request an extension in writing before the deadline.
