City-owned market rental housing
The City owns and operates a small number of market rental properties. These units are rented at standard market rates without income limits. We post current vacancies on the Find market rental housing page as they become available.
Understanding affordability terms
When browsing these listings, you may see specific affordability terms. Here is what they mean in Wrenford:
- Housing Income Limits (HIL): The maximum gross household income you can earn to qualify for non-market or affordable housing. Limits change each year and depend on your household size.
- Lower-end market (LEM): Rent set below the average market rate for the neighbourhood, usually around 10 to 15 per cent lower than comparable units.
- Shelter rate: Rent set at a fixed, highly subsidized amount, typically used for deeply affordable non-market units.
For the most current income limits, review the Housing page.
Rental property standards
We check rental buildings for health and safety issues. If you live in a rental unit in Wrenford and notice maintenance problems, such as mould, broken heating, or pest infestations, you can report the building. We investigate complaints and work with landlords to ensure every rental meets the By-laws.
To file a complaint or check the status of a building inspection, contact the By-law Enforcement team at 519-555-0110 or visit Report a housing code violation.
