Get help with your rent in Wrenford
If you are struggling to pay rent or keep your home, the City of Wrenford offers several programmes to help. We work with provincial services and local partners to give you the support you need. You can apply online, by phone, or in person.
Ontario Works emergency financial assistance
If you are facing an immediate crisis and cannot pay your rent this month, you may qualify for emergency financial assistance through Ontario Works. This programme provides a one-time payment to help cover essential living costs, including past-due rent. You must meet specific income and resource limits set by the province. Applications are reviewed quickly to ensure you get help before your eviction date.
How to apply: Visit your nearest Ontario Works office or call the Ontario Works contact information line. You will need to bring proof of income, your lease agreement, and a rent demand letter if you have one.
Wrenford Rent Bank
The Wrenford Rent Bank offers interest-free loans to residents who are behind on their rent. Unlike emergency grants, a Rent Bank loan must be paid back over time. This programme is designed to help you catch up on arrears so you can keep your home long-term. Loans are available for up to two months of past-due rent. You do not need a credit check to qualify, but you must have a steady source of income to repay the loan.
How to apply: Complete the Wrenford Rent Bank application form. Submit it to our housing team along with your lease and a letter from your landlord showing the amount owed. Decisions are usually made within five business days.
Coordinated Access Programme
If you are at risk of losing your home or have already become homeless, the Coordinated Access Programme can help. This programme connects you with supportive housing, rental subsidies, and case management services. A housing navigator will work with you one-on-one to find a safe and stable place to live. We prioritize applicants based on vulnerability and length of time without housing.
How to apply: Call the shelters contact line or visit the Access homelessness services page to find the nearest intake centre. You can also walk in during business hours.
What to expect after you apply
Once you submit your application, a housing specialist will review your case. They may contact you to ask for more documents or to schedule a meeting. Be sure to respond quickly so we can process your request without delay. If your application is approved, we will send you a letter with the next steps. If it is denied, the letter will explain why and how you can appeal the decision.
