About the committee
The Accessibility Advisory Committee helps guide the Wrenford Accessibility Plan and its Multi-Year Action Plan. The committee reviews City policies, programs, and services to find barriers and suggest improvements. It also gives advice to City Council and senior leadership on how to make Wrenford more inclusive for everyone.
Who serves on the committee
Membership is open to residents who bring lived experience of disability and those who represent disability service organizations. The committee also includes City staff who help with planning and meeting coordination. We aim for a majority of members to have lived experience of disability. We look for a mix of visible and invisible disabilities, as well as diverse backgrounds and neighbourhoods across the city.
What we work on
The committee meets to review how the City operates and finds ways to remove barriers. Your work will include:
- Reviewing departmental action plans for the Accessibility Plan
- Checking new City projects and policies for accessibility early in the process
- Sharing community feedback on barriers and solutions
- Reporting yearly progress to City Council
Supports for participation
We want everyone who wants to join to be able to participate fully. The City provides the following supports:
- Honorarium of $250.00 per meeting for community members
- Transit and accessibility support stipend of up to $50.00 per meeting
- Interpreters and captioning services upon request
- Flexible meeting formats, including virtual attendance
- Accessible meeting materials provided in advance
How to join
Committee members serve a two-year term and may be reappointed once. Applications are reviewed by the City Manager and the Accessibility Coordinator. New members will be announced after the selection process is complete.
The application window for the next committee cycle is open now. Please submit your application by March 31, 2027. Applications can be sent by email or mailed to City Hall.
