What you can do with your water and sewer bill

Check how much water you used this period, see your total due, and pay your bill online, by mail, or in person. You can also read your own water meter to track daily usage and spot leaks early.

How your bill is calculated

The City bills you every two months. Your notice shows the dates, your account number, and the total amount due. It breaks down into four parts:

  • Water usage charges: Based on the number of cubic metres read from your meter.
  • Wastewater charges: Calculated from your water usage, since most water returns through the sewer system.
  • Fixed service fees: A base charge that covers your meter size and access to the water and sewer networks.
  • Taxes and adjustments: Provincial and municipal taxes, plus any previous balance or credits.

Fixed fees and usage rates

Wrenford uses a tiered rate structure so everyone pays fairly. Your fixed fee depends on your water meter size:

Meter size Monthly fixed fee
13 mm (½ inch) $8.50
20 mm (¾ inch) $12.75
25 mm (1 inch) $18.00
40 mm (1½ inches) $32.50
50 mm (2 inches) $48.00

Water usage is billed per cubic metre. The first 100 cubic metres are charged at a base rate. Usage above 100 cubic metres falls into a higher tier to encourage conservation. Wastewater charges are calculated as a percentage of your total water usage, reflecting the volume that travels through our sewers to the Wrenford Water Pollution Control Plant.

When and how to pay

Your bill is due 25 days after the notice date. You can pay in four ways:

  1. Pre-authorized payment: The easiest option. We withdraw the amount automatically from your bank account every two months. Learn more at How to pay your water bill.
  2. Online or by phone: Use your credit card or debit card through the Service Wrenford portal.
  3. In person: Pay at the Service Wrenford counter at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street.
  4. By mail: Drop your payment with the remittance slip in the City Hall mail slot on Water Street.

If you miss the due date, a penalty applies under Late payments and penalties. If you need more time, contact the Revenue and Water Billing team to discuss arrangements at Water account payment arrangements.
