Water account payment arrangements

Learn how to pay your bimonthly water bill online, by phone, or by mail, and explore pre-authorized plans and hardship options.

Ways to pay your water bill

Your water and wastewater bill is sent every two months. You can choose the payment method that works best for you. All bills can be paid online, by phone, by mail, or in person at Wrenford City Hall.

Pre-authorized payment plans

The easiest way to pay is to set up a pre-authorized withdrawal plan. You can choose between:

  • Monthly instalments: The City divides your estimated yearly water bill into twelve equal monthly payments. This helps you budget your spending and avoids large bimonthly bills.
  • Bimonthly automatic payment: The exact amount due on your bill is automatically deducted from your chequing or savings account on the due date.

To set up a pre-authorized plan, log in to your account online or visit the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall. You will need to provide your bank account number and transit number. There is no fee to use this service.

Online and phone payments

You can pay your current bill or make a one-time payment through the your account online. The portal accepts Visa, Mastercard, and Visa Debit cards. A 2.5 per cent convenience fee is added to all credit card transactions.

If you prefer to pay by phone, call 311 inside city limits or 519-555-0100 from outside the city. You will need your roll number, which is on your water bill, and a credit or debit card.

Mail and in-person payments

By mail: Tear off the payment stub at the bottom of your bill and mail it with your cheque or money order to:

City of Wrenford, Water Billing, 100 Mercer Street, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1

In person: Visit the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall, 100 Mercer Street. We accept cash, cheque, money order, and credit or debit cards. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Payment arrangements and hardship support

If you are having trouble paying your water bill, the City offers several options to help you stay current. Water is a basic service, and we want to work with you to find a solution.

Budget billing plan

The budget billing plan equalizes your yearly water costs into steady monthly payments. This is helpful if your usage changes with the seasons, such as increased outdoor watering in summer. The City calculates an average based on your past twelve months of usage and bills you that amount every month. If your actual usage is higher or lower, your bill will be adjusted at the end of the year.

Hardship instalment plans

Life can bring unexpected financial challenges. If you are facing a temporary hardship, you can apply for a payment arrangement. We will work with you to create a monthly payment schedule that fits your budget. You will still need to pay your regular monthly instalment plus a portion of the past-due balance.

To apply, call 519-555-0100 or visit the Service Wrenford counter. You may be asked to provide proof of income or a letter from a social service agency.

Late payments and penalties

Water bills are due on the date printed on your statement. If a payment is not received within 30 days of the due date, a 2.5 per cent monthly late fee is added to your balance. This fee is applied each month until the account is paid in full.

If your account remains unpaid for an extended period, the City may take further collection steps. Early communication is always the best way to avoid penalties. If you know you will be late, contact us right away.
