Discounted fares for seniors
If you are 65 years of age or older, you qualify for the Wrenford Senior Transit Grant. This grant lowers the cost of every monthly, quarterly, and annual transit pass. Single ride fares are also reduced. You do not need a special card to use the discount; just show your Wrenford Photo ID or senior health card when you pay your fare or load your monthly pass.
Here are the current senior fares:
- Single ride: $3.00
- 30-day monthly pass: $70.00
- 3-month pass: $200.00
- 12-month annual pass: $780.00
All passes give you the same 90-minute transfer window as adult fares, so you can switch between fixed routes and Wrenford Access without paying again.
Low-Income Transit Pass programme
If you are on a fixed income and need extra help, the Low-Income Transit Pass programme offers a heavily reduced monthly fare. You can apply if you receive Ontario Works, the Guaranteed Income Supplement, or a Wrenford housing subsidy. This programme runs alongside the senior grant, but you only need to apply once per calendar year. Applications are reviewed within 10 business days.
How to apply and renew
You can start or renew your benefit at the Service Wrenford counter in City Hall or at the Downtown Transit Terminal. Bring proof of age and, if applying for the low-income programme, proof of income. Staff at the desk will update your account and issue your new pass on the spot. If you need help filling out the form, ask for an Accessibility Coordinator or request a home visit by calling Wrenford 311.
Where to buy and load passes
You can purchase or reload your monthly pass at any of these locations:
- Downtown Transit Terminal
- Service Wrenford counter, City Hall
- Wrenford Public Library — Main Branch
- Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre
- Northgate Aquatic Centre
You can also load your pass using the Wrenford Transit app. The app works on both Apple and Android phones and lets you set up automatic renewal so you never lose your discount.
Accessible travel and Wrenford Access
Senior riders who cannot use the regular fixed-route buses because of a mobility or health condition can use Wrenford Access. This door-to-door service runs on the same senior fare rates. Book your trip up to seven days in advance through the app, by phone, or at the Downtown Transit Terminal. Drivers will assist with wheelchairs, walkers, and mobility aids. Arrive within 15 minutes of your scheduled pick-up time, or the driver may leave to serve other riders.
