About Wrenford Access
Wrenford Access is a shared-ride, door-to-door transit service for residents who cannot use our regular fixed-route buses (routes 1–14) because of a physical, cognitive, or sensory disability. It is not a taxi. You will share the vehicle with other riders heading in a similar direction.
All vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lifts and securement systems. Drivers are trained to assist passengers with dignity and safety.
Who can register
To ride Wrenford Access, you must be a Wrenford resident and meet one or more of the following criteria:
- Unable to walk or wheel to a bus stop without significant difficulty.
- Cannot navigate fixed-route transit due to a cognitive or sensory impairment.
- Risk of falling or becoming disoriented while riding.
- Unable to board or exit a standard bus independently.
Registration types
Choose the registration that matches your needs:
- Permanent: For ongoing, continuous use of the service.
- Temporary: For a limited period, such as recovering from surgery or a broken limb. Extensions are available if your doctor confirms you still need the service.
- Seasonal: For riders who only need the service during specific months, like winter months when walking is difficult.
- Visitor: For people visiting Wrenford. You must provide a Wrenford address for your pick-up location. This registration stays active every time you visit.
You must be approved before you can book a trip. Applications are reviewed within ten business days. We may contact the healthcare professionals you list, and you might be asked for a brief interview.
How to book a trip
Trips are booked on a first-come, first-served basis. You can book up to seven days ahead. Book early in the evening when phone lines are less busy.
Booking windows:
- Monday to Saturday: 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
How to book:
- Call the booking line at Downtown Transit Terminal.
- Use the Wrenford Transit app on your phone.
- Visit the Downtown Transit Terminal in person to fill out a form with a staff member.
When you book, you will be given a 15-minute pick-up window (for example, if your trip is at 9:00 a.m., the driver will arrive between 9:00 and 9:15 a.m.). A one-way trip can take up to 45 minutes, depending on other riders and traffic.
Fares and passes
Wrenford Access fares match our regular fixed-route fares. The driver will collect your fare when you board. If you have a monthly pass or a day pass, you show it to the driver. For trips to more than one place, you must book separate trips and pay for each leg of the journey.
You can buy passes at the Downtown Transit Terminal, online through the transit portal, or through the Wrenford Transit app.
Changing or cancelling
If you need to change or cancel a trip, call the booking line as soon as possible so we can adjust the route for other riders. You can also cancel directly through the app.
