Report a missed collection
If your garbage, recycling, or organics cart was not picked up on your scheduled day, you can report it online or by calling 311. Please submit a separate request for each cart that was missed. For more details on how waste is handled, visit Garbage & Recycling.
How to report a missed pickup
If your cart was missed, go to the 311 online service request form or call 311. You will need your address and the type of cart that was missed. We aim to complete missed collections on the next available service day. If weather or other disruptions affect the whole neighbourhood, crews may need extra time to respond.
Collection rules and requirements
Check the following rules before submitting a request, as these are common reasons for missed pickups:
- 7:00 a.m. placement rule: Carts must be set out by 7:00 a.m. on collection day. Crews work in some areas until 4:30 p.m., so early placement helps.
- Space requirements: Leave 1 metre of clearance on all sides of each cart and 3 metres between carts to allow trucks to lift them safely.
- Holiday schedule: Collections are delayed by one day on statutory holidays (Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Civic Holiday, Labour Day, and Thanksgiving).
- Notice tags: If a tag is on your cart, follow the instructions to correct the issue. Do not submit a missed pickup request if a tag is attached.
- Extra bags: You can place up to three extra bags next to your cart. Each bag must weigh 10 kg or less and be clearly tied.
Check your collection schedule and look for any Service Alerts.
What to do next
If your cart is not collected after the next scheduled day, check for any updated notice tags or Service Alerts. Find ways to dispose of items the City does not pick up at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility. Place accepted items out on your next scheduled garbage or recycling collection date. You can learn more about what goes in each bin by visiting Blue bin and recycling collection and Green bin and organics collection.
Forms for this are in the City forms library.
