What you pay for freedom of information requests
Under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), the City of Wrenford can charge fees to cover the time spent finding and preparing your records. You can avoid or lower these fees by being specific in your request and choosing electronic delivery.
Application fees
- Personal information requests: No application fee.
- General information requests: A $5.00 application fee applies to start your request.
Search and preparation fees
The City gives you the first 3 hours of search time for free. This covers the time staff spend locating, retrieving, and preparing records for you. If a request takes more than 3 hours to process, you will receive an invoice for the additional time.
There is no charge for:
- Time spent reviewing records to remove personal information.
- Reviewing a record to ensure it can be released under the law.
Review fees
If you disagree with the City's decision to withhold information, you can ask for a review by the Information and Privacy Commissioner for Ontario. The Commissioner charges a $100.00 application fee to start a review.
How to pay
Pay by cheque or money order made out to the Minister of Finance. Mail your payment to:
