What the committee does

The Affordable Housing Strategy Committee helps the City of Wrenford build and maintain a housing supply that works for everyone. The committee reviews housing data, tracks our progress on the provincial Housing Accelerator Fund, and recommends changes to zoning and city policies for council to consider.

Who serves on the committee

The committee is made up of seven voting members:

  • One city councillor, appointed by council
  • Three ward councillors, appointed by council
  • Five citizen members, appointed by council after a public application process

Citizen members bring a mix of experience in housing, community planning, finance, and public health. At least one citizen member must have lived experience with housing insecurity. Members serve a two-year term and can be reappointed once.

The City Manager's designate attends meetings to provide administrative support and update the committee on program timelines.

Meeting schedule

The committee meets on the second Wednesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Meetings are open to the public and live-streamed online. You can watch past meetings on the Access council meeting recordings page.

How to apply

If you want to serve on the committee, you must be a Wrenford resident and at least 18 years old. You do not need to be a property owner. Applications are accepted year-round and reviewed when a vacancy opens. To apply, visit the Apply to serve on a city committee page or pick up a form at the Service Wrenford counter.
