Find your next career with the City

Welcome to the Careers section. Here you will find everything you need to search for open positions, create a candidate profile, and set up job alerts. Use our resources to prepare your resume and get ready for your interview.

Create a candidate profile

Visit the Wrenford Careers portal to apply for jobs and track your application. Follow these steps to set up your account:

  • Go to the Wrenford Careers portal and click Create Your Profile.
  • Fill in your personal details and create a secure password.
  • Select the notification option to Receive new job posting notifications.
  • Complete the verification check and accept the data privacy statement.
  • Click Create Account.

Set up job alerts

Stay informed about the latest opportunities by creating job alerts. Log in to your profile, click Options/Job Alerts, and select Create New Job Alert. Enter keywords that match your skills, such as Administration, Engineering, or By-law Enforcement. We recommend setting alerts for every three days. You can manage or delete alerts at any time from your profile settings.

Prepare your application

Go to Options then My Profile to upload your resume, cover letter, and certifications. A cover letter is not required, but it helps to highlight your leadership experience and relevant skills.

The City reviews every application by hand. We do not use artificial intelligence to screen candidates. Talent and Hiring Managers review your materials together. If you are selected, you will hear from us within two to four weeks of the closing date. The full recruitment process usually takes four to eight weeks.

Interview and assessment

Shortlisted candidates are invited to interviews. These are usually behavioural interviews. We recommend preparing your answers using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). Some roles may require skills testing or practical assessments before the interview stage.

Reference checks are completed after the interview. If you receive an offer, it is contingent on a satisfactory criminal record check. Please still apply if you have a record. We review all applications fairly and consider the nature of the offence and the type of role.

Application status updates

Log in to your profile to view the status of your applications under the Jobs Applied To tab:

  • Application Under Review: Your application is being screened. You can still upload new documents.
  • In Progress: You are being considered for an interview.
  • Closed: The position has been filled. You will be notified when the file is closed.

Flexible work policy

The City offers a Flexible Work Policy that allows telework and adjusted hours where the role permits. To qualify, you must live within 100 kilometres of Wrenford. If remote work is a priority, please discuss it during the interview.

Employee benefits

City employees enjoy a strong benefits package, including:

  • Health Spending Account (HSA): An annual $750.00 non-taxable credit for medical expenses.
  • Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA): An annual $750.00 taxable credit for fitness and wellness.
