Why we have this code
When you supply goods or services to the City of Wrenford, you agree to follow our Supplier Code of Conduct. This code makes sure that every project meets high standards for safety, fairness, and environmental care. We want our supply chain to be safe, respectful, and sustainable.
What you need to do
The code covers five key areas:
- Labour and human rights: You must follow all applicable labour laws and provide safe working conditions. Forced labour and child labour are strictly prohibited. We expect you to respect the fundamental rights of workers as set out in the International Labour Organization conventions.
- Health and safety: You must maintain a safe workplace for your employees and anyone visiting a City project. This includes following occupational health and safety standards and providing the necessary training and equipment.
- Environmental responsibility: You must minimize the environmental impact of your work. This means reducing waste, managing hazardous materials properly, and following all applicable environmental regulations. We encourage you to adopt green practices wherever possible.
- Business ethics: You must conduct business with honesty and integrity. This includes providing accurate information, meeting deadlines, and delivering the goods or services as agreed.
- Conflict of interest and respectful workplace: You must avoid any situation that could create a real or perceived conflict of interest with City staff. You must also maintain a respectful workplace free from harassment, discrimination, and bullying, in line with the Ontario Human Rights Code.
Compliance and reporting
If you or your subcontractors break these rules, the City can stop a contract, remove you from our approved supplier list, or take other legal action. We take these standards seriously to protect our residents and our public funds.
